Seven Sisters Cliffs, East Sussex

You don’t have to visit Dover to see white chalk cliffs. Instead, take a day trip from London by train to the majestic Seven Sisters Cliffs. They stand along the coast between Brighton and Eastbourne, facing the English Channel in East Sussex. They’re a breathtaking natural wonder that draw visitors from around the world. Stretching for around 14 miles (22 kilometres), these chalk cliffs offer a mesmerising display of dramatic white cliffs, undulating hills, and stunning coastal views. Named after the seven peaks that rise and fall along the coastline, the best way to admire and appreciate the scale is to walk them.

What a great list of places to visit while vacationing in London. I noticed several sister cities in the US that I’ve been to that I would love to see the original spot in England (Portsmouth, NH and Bath, NC). Great post!
Glad you liked it! I hope you can visit them someday 🙂

Some great day trips from London on this list. I’ve done many of them – there are some beautiful and interesting places so close to London.
There truly are! I’m hoping to add to the list in the future 🙂
Most of our visits to London we have stayed in the city. But we did see some of the sights like Stonehenge on a transit day to the city from the cruise port. But we would love to plan some of the great day trips out of London on a return visit. I love how many spots you can get to by train. And we certainly would want to get to the shore and see the great coastline. All good reasons to plan a longer visit to London next time.
So glad to hear you’ve done some sights already! There really is so much to see and do in the area.
Never been to London but planning to! Saving these beautiful day trips for my future travel. Thanks for the insights!
Yay! Glad you like them
Day trips are such a good way to escape the big smoke and enjoy the pretty English countryside. I love most of these already, but somehow I never made it to Hastings – That looks like a great place for us to visit next time. 🙂
Hastings was also somewhere we’d never thought about visiting, and it was a welcome surprise!
Yaaasss! All things I really want to do on my next UK trip. Can you please do Highclere castle next? I need to have tea there as I’m waiting for the Dowager Countess!
Sadly I’ve not been there, but adding it to my next trip home 🙂
Most of these I have visited but there are some that I haven’t and now I am eager to get back to the U.K. to check them out. I would particularly love to visit Hastings. The date for the Battle of Hastings is forevermore etched in my mind. Thanks for this informative guide.
